Last year I was on my gap year from High School. I had been accepted to university but i deferred for a year so i could save enough money to move to Perth. I still lived in Tom Pricec and worked as the Human Resources and Mobilisation Officer for an aboriginal contracting company.
In November 2008 i moved to Perth with my best friend Jess, where i now work as a retail assistant for Jeans West and study full time. 

I am currently in my first year at Edith Cowan University. I am completing a Bachelor of Communications and plan to major in Journalism and Public Relations. 

Ideally, in 5 years i will be writing for a well known publication and gaining the experience to eventually become the editor of a successful fashion, sports or health magazine. 

Due to university and work commitments, i find that i rarely have time for hobbies.
Oh the life of a uni student!
However if i ever have time i like to just relax by reading a book or getting stuck into a TV series. 

My life aims and goals at the moment mainly consists of finishing university and then traveling around the world.
My main aim in life however is to be successful and happy. 

Right now in life i am busy getting all my assignments done. This includes one for Cmm1108 – Communications and Digital Technology , which is what this blog is for.

A learning portfolio is a documentation of a persons work and  it shows the processes of how they got to the final product. It not only allows the student to reflect, critique and analyse their work, but it also helps the student to acknowledge their way of learning. 

A learning portfolio is one way to help a student realise their own learning style. This is also called metacognitive learning, and it is a vital part of learning for any student. Metacognition is about self reflection and analysis, determining how you learn, why and how to do it better.Ridley, Schutz & Weinstein state that “Metacognitive skills include taking conscious control of learning, planning and selecting strategies, monitoring the progress of learning, correcting errors, analyzing the effectiveness of learning strategies, and changing learning behaviors and strategies when necessary” (1992). This same reference could be used to define the uses of a learning portfolio showing the process in which you learnt, applied, reflected, analysed and changed your work when it was needed. However they can also include things like, achievements, awards, resumes and anything that would help a person get a job. 

The contents of a portfolio normally include:

• A narrative on the learning process
• Achievements in learning (awards, achievement)
• Evidence of learning (samples of the work done)
• Assessment of learning ( results, marks, feedback)
• Relevance of learning (hobbies, volunteer work )
• Learning goals ( what you want to achieve)

• What have i learnt?
• How did i learn it?
• Under what circumstances did i learn best?
• How have i improved/ how did it help
• How will i use this knowledge
